3.)        Rest Patiently in the quiet times.

Finally, if you’ve been obedient to His last
directive to you and you trust that He’s silently
working on your behalf, let your engine idle. I
know you’re raring to obtain that place, position,
job, career, house, ministry, business, or degree
God has for you, but rest patiently in Him. Enjoy
the quiet times with Him.   It’s during these times
that He allows you to:

--- Rest from your last endeavor in order to gain
strength and stamina for the next growth
experience with Him.

--- Enjoy His presence in the beauty of everyday
life, your family, friends, and nature.

--- Reconnect with yourself by re-assessing who
you are and where you’re headed.

When you’re listening for God’s voice, but not
hearing anything don’t despair and think that He
has forsaken you. He hasn’t. He uses the quiet
times to enrich our lives just as much as he does
the times of activity. Look to where you last heard
His voice, trust that He’s working behind the
scenes, rest patiently in Him, and enjoy the
crickets chirping.

        Have you ever been in the country at night
where there are no street-lights or smog? If you
haven’t, you should. The night sky is crystal clear
and the stars are brilliant! One thing you’ll notice
is that when everyone has settled in for the night,
everything is quiet and still. But, there’s one
sound you can still hear…crickets chirping.

      To me that’s a wonderful sound. It’s very
peaceful and relaxing, like nature’s song. But
there are times when I want to hear more than the
crickets chirping, like, when I’m listening for God.
There is a Bible verse that says- “Be still and
know that I am God,” [Psalm 46:10] and yet
another that says, when you call on Him, He will
answer. [Psalm 91:15]. But, sometimes when I
call on God, all I hear are the crickets chirping.
Sometimes I’m listening but not hearing. What
do we do when God is silent? Here are three
suggestions:


1.) Look to where you last saw the light.

When did you last hear from God? What did He
say? What stage of life were you in? Were there
instructions to move forward, turn around, or stay
and wait? What was your response? Did you
follow through; are you on track with his directive?
Have you accomplished the task or met the goal
He set before you?

When you feel that God is silent, look back to
where you last heard His voice, trace your steps to
see if you are in the place of His leading. If you
are, then rest patiently for His next directive for
you. If not, reassess His word to you, consider
where and how you went awry and then ask Him
to help you get back on track in pursuit of His will
for your life.

2.) Trust that He is working behind the scenes.

Just because you don’t hear Him doesn’t mean
He’s not working behind the scene on your
behalf. Remember that His ways are not our
ways, and His thoughts are not our thoughts.
[Isaiah 55:8,9] Just as God was a step ahead of
the children of Israel by positioning Esther in the
royal palace for such a time as to plead with the
King on their behalf, so He works behind the
scenes of your life making things happen before
you know about them.
